Blogger wanted: engage Conference 2016

Published: 22 July 2016

Axisweb is pleased to support engage as the engage Conference Media Partner, for the eighth year running in 2016. Taking place in Liverpool, a city renowned for its radicalism and creativity, at the time of the Liverpool Biennial, this year’s engage International Conference Whose Art? Our Art! will explore how issues of access and activism impact on gallery and visual arts approaches to education and outreach, through four themes:

Arts Activism: What is arts activism in 2016? Would early activists recognise it today? What is it trying to achieve? Can the arts lean from other forms of activism?

Accessible Arts and Social Cohesion: What does accessible mean? Who decides the arts offer? How can the arts improve social cohesion? Why do the arts achieve when others fail?

A Re-definition of Education: Who is best placed to define education? Where does art stand within education? Can the arts offer a curriculum for life? Inspire or test?

Sustainable Careers: How can young people be supported to achieve sustainable careers in the arts and creative sector?

Are you attending the 2016 engage International Conference? Like to add to the Conference conversation and encourage debate through your artistic practice?

Axisweb are looking for an artist to blog throughout the Conference, picking up on the discussions and themes from each day and inspiring others to join the conversation online. We’re open to how you would like to respond to this brief – be it words, photos, drawings or other media. Your observations will be relayed to a wider audience via Twitter, Instagram and the Axisweb and engage websites, and will help to create a record of this year’s event. Applicants should have some experience of creating content for web.

Fee
Axisweb will pay a fee of £150.
