Artist Statement

Tim's work draws its inspiration from the surrounding landscape and where possible uses indigenous natural materials, in combination with recycled or engineered parts. Tim has a range of experience in both exhibiting and constructing commissioned work in the landscape. A proven track record of Commissions and Residencies, Including, Artist in Residence at The Irwell Sculpture Trail, The Grizedale Forest, and The National Cycle Network. Rather than produce solely Furniture or Sculpture he creates inspirational environments for the public to relax, chat and enjoy. Tim has run a wide range of workshops in many different settings. Working on site with groups, constructing large sculptures to running one-day workshops in schools and Community centres

2013/14 Sculpture Commission, Chilton, Oxfordshire
To develop Sculptural performance space in response to the local area.
Working with the Parish Council and the Vale of white Horse Borough Council.

2012/14 Sculpture residency, I park, Connecticut, USA
To develop Artworks in response to the I park environment. Working towards the Environmental Art Biennale.

To develop sculptural seating to respond to the park environment at MilhamFord. Working with Oxford City Council and The friends of Milhamford Nature Park.

2009  Landform Sculpture, Sidcup Grammar School, Kent.
To create Land art feature using wood, soil and turf to form an outdoor performance and learning area at Chislehurst and Sidcup Grammar  School, working with pupils and school staff.

2007-08 Sculpture Commission, Orchid vale school, Swindon
To develop sculpture for school grounds, working with Artpoint, Equion FM (PFI company) and pupils and teachers at school.

2006  Lead artist, Stamford Hill Sculpture Project, London
To develop Guiding vision, working closely with community, Landscape Architects, Planning Authorities as well as commissioning Additional Artists to complete the scheme. Working with Arts express, Groundwork London, Southern housing and Mansels

2004  Lead Artist, National Cycle Network, Oxfordshire.
To develop a single Guiding vision for the route, work with Engineers and Landscape Architects, Planning Authorities as well as commissioning Additional Artists.

2003  Sculpture Commission, Harlech, Wales.
To design and build Site Specific Artworks.
Working with partners, Art works Wales and Snowdonia National Park.

2003  Sculpture Commission, Harold Court woods, Essex.
To design and build sculptural features throughout the park, working with Partners, Forestry Commission and Thames Chase.

2002  Sculpture commission, Lorrimore square, London.
To design and build Sculpture for this urban square involving Local residents in a program of design, making and installation of the final piece.

2001  Sculpture Residency, Irwell Sculpture Trail, Manchester.
To lead education and Mentoring Program.  Constructing commissioned work as Artist in Residence along the UK’s longest Sculpture Trail.

1997  Sculpture Residency, Kilvey Community Woodland, Wales.
To Lead workshops and create sculpture trail throughout Kilvey Hill. Working with local residents and Swansea City Council

2013  ‘Build the future’ Catalyst Housing, London
Working with local residents to design and build large scale models and drawings inspired by the housing estate of their imagination, working with recycled materials.

2012  ‘Olympics’ Langley park Girls school, London.
To lead sculpture workshops inspired by the 2012 London Olympics. Construction of temporary willow sculptures sited throughout the school.

2011  ‘Labyrinth’ Deptford Park, London.
To lead outdoor sculpture workshops with local people. Construction of living willow sculptures sited throughout the park.

2008  ‘Nature is a workshop’ Turner Contemporary, Kent.
To lead outdoor sculpture workshops inspired by the materials and landscape of Kent. `Construction of Temporary chestnut sculptures sited throughout Margate.

2007  ‘The Fourth plinth’ National Gallery, London.
To run Sculpture workshops with selected groups in connection with the 4th plinth scheme at Trafalgar square.  A program designed to increase awareness and appreciation of art in the public realm. Working with Arts Express and the Mayor of London.

2006  ‘Canal Art’ Grand Union Canal. London
To lead drawing and model making workshops in schools leading to the creation of sculptural seats being sited along the grand union canal. Working with Arts Express Groundwork and The Environment Agency.
