This piece is part of a group of sculptures made from salvaged materials, many of which have been stumbled upon by the artist on her daily walk in The South Downs National Park. The contrasts of soft and hard are intended to be uncomfortable, referencing human treatment of nature, especially the 'slow violence' imposed on trees by wire fencing and steel constraints, as well as the toll borne by the human body over time. It offers the possibility of a synthesis of parts and a new hybrid being.
