Double Portrait series
2020"Double Portraits": these have been made during the Covid Lockdown and are paper weavings done using images from Tate Etc and Art Quarterly magazines.
I have been thinking about the appalling lack of diversity in all the years of art history education through art school in the 1980s. Weaving these images together is a response to this, a way of trying to weave non-male and non-white, non-western artists back into "The History of Art".
Double Portrait IV: Zanele Muholi's "Bhekezakhe, Parktown, Johannesburg" with "Egon Shiele by Anton Josef Trcka
Double Portrait III: Photograph of Mike Nelson in his studio by Alexander Coggin with Jacob Huysmans' "James, Duke of Monmouth as St. John the Baptist"
Double portrait V: Louise Bourgeoise's "umbilical Cord" with "Invisible Sculpture" by Andy Warhol
Double Portrait VI: Artemisia Gentileschi self portrait with Zanele Muholi self portrait
