Backwater Dream
2018After an awe inspiring trip to India I took a few months to absorb how I felt about this once in a lifetime trip. I’ve now begun to paint from my sketches, photos and memory of a wonderful day spent in the backwaters of Kochi in Kerala.
I wanted to convey the feeling of being in a dream as the experience was such a beautiful one so decided to paint in fantasy, dreamlike colours, flipping reality into an imagined paradise.
I’ve used used a limited palette and impressionistic brushstrokes to give a soft image of the slow glide down the river, water hyacinths carpeting the surface of the water, coconut palms overhead.
