My personal artistic practice is concerned with drawing as puzzle solving, turned in to painting, prints and digital imagery, that deal with complex patterns.

I am presently working with the Hillfort landscape of North East Wales, merging drawing and pre-Christian design to recreate and communicate a sense of the magical. I am exploring the possibilities of using past methods of practice in landscape in a contemporary way through repetition and the use of recurrent patterns such as a weave, spiral or cup and ring marks.

The aim is to (in the form of drawing, phenomenology and study of ancient imagery) to use visual research to explore the nature of prehistoric landscape, specifically in Wales. My desire is to build up a body of work that uses instinct to re-create the sense of a place and as an experiment to discover if it possible to better understand what is being communicated (through a purely visual sense) by the past peoples of these places.
