'Social Works ?' is the commissioning arm of Models of Validation - a two year knowledge transfer partnership between Axisweb and Manchester Metropolitan University exploring socially engaged artistic practice - /models-of-validation/.
The opportunities it advertises are a direct response to issues in the field of socially engaged art identified through interviews with people involved in this practice.
We are happy to announce funding to support a work by an artist/s who have a socially engaged practice. The commission will feature as a limited edition in a new paper and digital publication dedicated to exploring issues and knowledge sharing in the field. The publication will be launched in Autumn this year. Outside of the format and time frame, the parameters for the commission are purposefully broad and open to interpretation. We are keen to emphasise the need to uphold the highest ethical standards in projects working with participants.
Support includes: -£1000 to encompass artist/s fee and production (outside of printing costs). -Feature in new paper and digital publication -Marketing and organisational support
Proposals should take the form of: A short project description (400 words max) A preliminary breakdown of the budget A statement regarding your own approach to ethical ways of working Your CV
