For the latest in our series of 'What do Axis artists do all day?' we interviewed longstanding Axis member Steve Messam at his studio near Barnard Castle.
Steve creates striking, temporary installations set within the landscape, using a combination of colour, shape, scale and sight lines. The installations investigate the layers of narrative within landscapes, which the work then becomes part of. Steve's studio is an old butcher's walk-in fridge, which doesn't sound conducive to producing such large-scale works, but he manages to do it somehow!
We create films for and about museums, galleries, artists, arts organisations, studios and events. If you'd like us to make a film for you, get in touch [email protected]
