Axis Social

Did you miss any of the content from our Digital Residency or Micro-Commission artists? Kim Coleman and Jenny Hogarth and Jaron Hill were our Digital Residents for 2021. Each artist/collaboration received a fee of £1,500 to realise their project. We also awarded four Micro-Commissions to Kiara Mohamed and Niloo Sharifi, Moa Johansson and An*dre Neely, Ro Hardaker and Sam Williams. You can catch up with all of their projects here

Axisweb (Axis) has partnered Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) School of Art in conjunction with Social Art Network (SAN) on an Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) fellowship titled SAFEDI (Social Art for Equality Diversity and Inclusion). We will be working with six social artists, community participants, arts organisations and policy makers to understand what kind of barriers underrepresented people face around access culture and creativity.

The first of these projects is 'enshrine SAFEDI', a collaboration which brought together North-East communities of disabled people to investigate ways of making art centres, galleries and arts organisations more accessible.

We are pleased to welcome a new team member to Axis. Madeleina Kay is our new Communications Producer! Madeleina is an artist, activist and communications professional, with a personal commitment to using the arts for social good. Find out more about Madeleina and what she''l be doing at Axis.

Are you a social artist? Have you even considered the possibility of self-publishing? Axis's 'Social Art Library' is teaming up with the Social Art Network to offer 3 free ISBNs to social artists - so your social art book can be self-published and archived by the British Library.
