EDITORIAL

The sixth round of our Hardship Fund has now closed. 10 applicants, chosen at random, have been notified. Round 7 is now open for applications. Like the previous round, we will use £500 of the donations from our GoFundMe page to fund 5 more artists; we will match this to help a total of 10 artists.

Deadline for 7th Round: Thursday 7th May 4:00 pm.

If you have already applied, and were unsuccessful, we welcome you to apply again. We urge successful applicants not to apply again, as we want to be able to support as many people as possible.

Any member facing financial hardship and who are unable to work, disabled, a career, on low income or freelance is eligible to apply. We won't ask you to explain why, but ask that you only apply if you need the money. We have initially made available a fund of £5,000. Each week for five weeks we will distribute 10 x £100 awards.

Our Artist of the Month for May 2020 is Pandora Vaughan. We talk to her about her artistic practice, influences and upcoming projects.

We've recently launched a new podcast series called Live Out Loud, a collection of conversations between artists around a specific topic and hosted by our Research and Development Coordinator, Lucy Wright. Our first episode features Beth Davis-Hofbauer and Chantal Powell discussing Practice in Isolation #LiveOutLoud

Continuing the audio theme we've also launched Sunday Sounds, a collection of sound art, music, podcasts, readings, performances and conversations from our Members which will be published every Sunday evening at 6pm. The latest Sunday Sound features AJ Stockwell #SundaySounds

We're living in unique, challenging and historic times, filled with many uncertainties. Everything about life and work as we know it is changing.

In times of uncertainty we're focusing on how best to support you our members. We have reached out to Adobe to ask how they could support our members. We've had a great initial response with an offer of a 50% discount on Adobe's Creative Cloud - saving an individual £300 per year.

We fully appreciate cash is short for many, and recognise that digital tools such as Adobe's Creative Cloud will become increasingly important during these times. So if you already use Adobe CC or have been thinking of starting, this will save you money. In the first instance we need to establish the level of demand and gather a list of those looking to sign up. If interested, let us know by completing our expression of interest form.

For #Five2Watch this week we've selected five artists who have made work that responds to different aspects of architecture, featuring: Liz West, Marcus Jefferies, Christopher Tipping, Natalie Seymour and Douglas Clark.
