Looking forward
Happy new year everyone, we hope you all had a peaceful and restorative festive break. It's hard to believe we're in 2022 now after a very challenging last two years. But we're feeling excited about the coming year and have lots of things planned to keep on doing what we do best - supporting artists and their work.
Mental Health for Artists
Axis is proud to present ‘Mental Health for Artists’, a new online season of events for January 2022 promoting wellbeing for creative practitioners and offering hands-on advice for creating healthy boundaries—in our practice and our lives.
From talks, to workshops, to performances, begin 2022 as you mean to go on and make a new year’s resolution to join us for ‘Mental Health for Artists’! Places are limited, so an early sign up is advised to avoid disappointment.
Our latest update from our SAFEDI projects is 'Building Warmth' by Lily Lavorato (She/Her). Lily organised a fire-making skills session with a group of disabled and chronically ill people as way to investigate new ways of speaking about how to build accessible and welcoming spaces.
This project is one of six commissions as part of AHRC funded project SAFEDI (Social Art for Equality Diversity and Inclusion). SAFEDI is an AHRC fellowship led by Manchester Metropolitan University, Social Art Network, & Axis, working with social artists, marginalised communities and policy makers around the UK to rethink what inclusion in the arts means.
New Art Highlights of the week includes: Lyndsey Gilmour, Lucy Stevens, Pippa Eason and Charlotte Cullen.
