Our publishing partnership with creativetourist.com Paul Merrick, Untitled (1,2,3,4,5), 2012

In 2014 Axisweb is teaming up with creativetourist.com to share information about the latest developments in contemporary art

creativetourist.com - the UK’s only dedicated art and travel site - began life in Manchester and now encompasses many other cities and places across the north of England. It’s a prime online destination for tourists and travellers eager to seek out new cultural experiences in the North.

To kick off this year’s publishing partnership, our director Sheila McGregor selects her 'One Good Thing in 2014'. Her choice reflects a longstanding love of Paris and fascination with changing trends in museum display. Clue: it involves Picasso!

For creativetourist.com’s readership, we’ve also selected six northern artists from our directory ‘to watch’ in 2014: Owl ProjectPaul MerrickRachel ClewlowCath CampbellIain Andrews and Lindsey Bull.

And in an interview with Polly Checkland Harding, Sheila McGregor talks about our role as a promotional platform for the people who make and present contemporary art in the UK and explains the brokerage that happens behind the scenes of our new website.  It's a virtual showcase and meeting place, she says, where you can present your work, find out what other people are doing and make useful connections.

For our regular 'Axisweb Selects' slot on creativetourist.com, we have nominated Simon Woolham’s delicate, doodle-like drawings. His work is on show at Liverpool's Bluecoat Gallery until 23 February 2014.
